Most garden designers make you ask. We'd rather publish it. These are our actual, published prices for the design and mentoring services — all plus VAT — alongside honest guide rates for the paving we install. Build costs depend on the scheme, but the studio work you can price up right here, today.
Garden consultation & written summary
£240 + VAT
A two-hour session on site covering design, materials, planting, maintenance and lawn advice, written up as a summary you keep. A 50p-per-mile travel charge applies to gardens outside WD3. Plenty of clients take this and act on it themselves.
Concept drawing
£250 + VAT
A hand-drawn or CAD design concept for the proposed garden layout — the zones, levels and lines of sight — that becomes the reference the whole project works from.
Plant palette
£250 + VAT
A curated plant selection document tailored to your soil, aspect and brief, so the planting works together and matures well. Where the horticulture training earns its keep.
IRIS garden health-check
£80 + VAT
A one-hour verbal garden health-check on site — a quick, expert read of what your garden needs, without a written report.
HEBE comprehensive report
£220 + VAT
A written, two-hour garden assessment report you keep — a fuller, documented version of the health-check to guide your own work.
VERBENA practical mentoring
£300 + VAT
Three or more hours of hands-on practical gardening assistance alongside Steve — learn to look after your own garden as you go. Gift vouchers available for all mentoring and consultation packages.
What moves the price
- Whether you want the design work only, or the full build that follows it.
- The paving you choose — Indian sandstone runs from £16–£30+/m² + VAT, porcelain from £25–£60+/m² + VAT.
- Ground conditions — levels, slope, drainage and whether retaining walls are needed.
- The structures involved — decking, pergolas, water features, raised beds and the like.
- Planting scale and stock — borders, hedging, lawns and how the plants are sourced and supplied.
- Travel — a 50p-per-mile charge applies to consultations outside the WD3 postcode.
The design and mentoring prices above are fixed and published. For a full build, the only way to a real figure is a consultation — Steve will walk the garden with you, tell you straight what's involved and put a clear price to it.
